ICQ Problem on Windows 2000 Server

When I launch ICQ on my Windows 2000 Server I get a message "Can't create temporary database file" and ICQ won't launch.  I go to the ICQ Database Converter in an attempt to repair the database and it tells me that the database files are locked because ICQ is running and won't let me do a repair.  However, ICQ does not appear to be running (and if it is I can't figure out a way to stop it from running).

I've tried uninstalling ICQ and reinstalling it but the same behavior resulted.  Any ideas?

Right click on the task bar and open Task Manager from the menu and look to see if the aim.exe is running. If it is, click on the end process to kill it. Sometimes programs will be closed but they hang and will show up as running in task manager. Make sure on 2K server that the appropriate rights are set up for the location of the database to be ablet o access it for creation.
You may need to be anAdmin to run ICQ, or to have admin permissions.
Try it and see if this works.

I hope this helps !

No aim.exe running (Isn't AIM Instant Messager rather than ICQ anyway?).  No permissions have changed since I ran ICQ successfully yesterday.  I am logged in as admin.

The only thing that might have screwed this up is that the date was accidentally set ahead on my computer yesterday.  I've set it back but I was wondering if that might have corrupted the database.
That's right, sorry. The date change should not have had an effect. I would try backing up your buddy list or whatever you have set up, uninstall and reinstall and see what happens.

I've already done the uninstall and reinstall and I still get the same result.  I think the database repair would work but I can't seem to get the ICQ database unlocked.

Did an uninstall and reinstall to a different directory and now things are working fine.  This question can be closed.
