Monitor problems by Win2000

Hello,

I have Win2000 and tried to install my nVidia Geforce2 graphic card. After one restart it happened so that the monitor goes off just before showing the Windows desktop. It is now always so. If I start in the VGA Mode it's OK. What is the problem there? What should I do?

Thanks

Something is loading prior to reaching the desktop that is causing the problem. It may be the resolution. Make sure that your monitor can handle the resolution that it boots into, i.e. 1024x768. In VGA mode, look in the registry under hkey local machine\software\microsoft\windows\run and see if something might be loading that is causing the problem. Trying installing the latest Direct X drivers also, i.e., 8.0 is the latest.

In safe mode, set your VGA resoultio to 640x480, and also make sure that your monitor is set to the correct type. XVGA standard may work fine if the monitor is not PNP.

Reboot, and sloowly test higher resoultions and refresh rates. You monitor may not support all modes.

I hope this helps !

640x480 and 800x600 don't help. I have really no idea.

shtern, uninstall the drivers while in safemode, then download a fresh set of Windows 2000 qualified drivers and install those and you should be fine.
