Modem will not transfer data!

donoe asked

my modem can complete the dialup connection with my isp, but after logging in, there is absolutely no transfer of date upstream and downstream!

can anybody advice me at all?

Watch Question

After connecting - Do Start/Run/Winipcfg   Click on more info  and make sure you have 1)valid ip address  2) gateway   3) DNS address

If you don't then it could be your ISP  has a bad modem in it's modem pool.

You may also have a defective modem  or a bad setting in you dial-up networking profile (make sure that under properties/servers  that log on to network  is not checked

If nothing works - give full description of your modem type - network settings etc

Are you sure this is a modem problem? If you get through the login procedure, I'd guess some sort of data transfer does take place. You could perhaps describe the symptoms a bit more in detail?
