I know I can figure this out on my own but my boss wants this done yesterday.  What do I need to change on an SGI client and what do I need to change on a Solaris2.6 NIS server so the client is using NIS to check usrid's and passwd's.

Thanks,
Stephen

IRIX client setup:
     domainname nis-domainname
     echo nis-domainname > /var/yp/domain
     # add the string literal "+:" (without quotes) to the files /etc/{passwd,group}, add it after the users/groups which should be local
     chkconfig yp on
     /usr/etc/ypbind
ypwhich  # test if client works

Solaris Server:
     # usually you don't need to change something if a new clients joins the NIS-domain
On many unix clients you can simply run 'ypinit -c'
to have the system ask you all the information you
need to set up the client.

On HP you can use 'sam' to update the NIS information.
