Do you have a example how to use it DelRunner?

I would make the trial version some sort of crippleware... otherwise some warez hound will just crack it and pass it around.

Then make the customers pay with credit card and tell them the card data has been embedded into the exe in several places... that will make them worry a lot before they give the fully finctional app out to their friends :-)

You don't really need to put their credit card data into the exe... just let them think you did :-)

what do you think customers would say then? they will never buy the product :)

If your app is inexpensive and has a nice printed manual but not much built in help then people will be likely to just buy it instead of pirate it..

But if your app is expensive or has complete help built in then that makes it more attractive to get a free copy from a friend.

If your program needs frequent updates then that will also make people want to buy it..since they can't upgrade a bootleg if you keep track of who owns what copy.

If your app has narrow appeal then people might have trouble finding someone that has a copy to give them... so if they want it they have to buy it :-)

No software copy protection can stop a real geek... even microsoft can't stop them.... hardware dongles can't stop them either...

In any case I really recommend a crippled trial version... a full trial version will just invite abuse.

There's nothing much to it, other than install the components, drop the Shareware componenet on your form and fill the properties.
