Is Exchange what I need?

I've been out of the look with server based products for a while now, and don't really remember what I need to use.

I have a client who wants to share contacts, address books, calendars, etc, all in real-time. Is Exchange what I need to do this? They want to use Outlook because they really like the look/feel of the software.

Thanks for the advice.

You couls go with Exchange if the volume is high and the dollars are available.  If there are only a few computers that need to share info you can use NetFolders.  There is no additional software cost on this if OL2000 is on all computers.  Take a look at these.

I've used NetFolders in the past with no luck. I think this may be due to the large amount of information they are sharing. Is Exchange the cheapest solution?

I do private consulting for small companies and I have always used exchange.  I never had any major problems with it and found it easy to use.  Just make sure you have adequate hardware (lotsa drive space) and access to some form of emergency info (like email support from MS--$250 a pop).

Main thing is to have a really good backup system (we use veritas).  Practice building a server and then try bringing it up from tape.  That is the hardest part I found with exchange:  You gotta know the different database files and all for restores.
