iplanet directory server on solaris 8.
I have set up the server, I have difficulty configure the
client right now:
here is my /var/ldap/ldap_client_file:

NS_LDAP_SERVERS= 192.168.10.23
NS_LDAP_SEARCH_BASEDN= dc=test,dc=com
NS_LDAP_DOMAIN=test.com"
NS_LDAP_AUTH= NS_LDAP_AUTH_SIMPLE

ldaplist produces this errors:
ldaplist: LDAP configuration problem (Auth method is not correctly provided!)

Am I missing anything?

thanks in advance.

well, I'm not used to Solaris 8, but to Netscape/iPlanet's ldap.
Unfortunately I don't know ldaplist (but according to you description I'm pretty shure that it is just a script wrapping ldapsearch).
Can you try with ldapsearch, like

     ldapserach -h  192.168.10.23  -b  dc=test,dc=com you-query-here

If you have a Netscape browser you even may use the browser to search you database like

    ldap://192.168.10.23/dc=test,dc=com

thanks for the fast reply;
I might install openldap,  I was unable to
compile it on solaris 8 before, that's why I
pick Iplanet.

thanks again

THANKS.

BTW, is iPlanets LDAP bundled with Solaris 8?

not the server, only the client
