How to Mirror Exchange across 2 servers?

We are planning on rolling out Exchange 2000 within the next couple of months.  I have heard that it is possible to have a 2nd Exchange server that can act as a live backup or roll-over server if the first server fails.  Both server supposedly contain the same information at all times and are connected with site-connectors.  From past experience I know you can replicate directory information between Exchange servers but what about the information stores?
Can anyone point me to any resources on this topic or is it just an urban legand?

BryanL,
There's another option, which is the enterrpise standard, but , of course you may have to pay for it.
You can configure a Exchange 2000 cluster with Dual Identical Servers, connected to a shared disk box with RAID array. You may need to have WIndows 2000 Advanced Server, Excahnge 2000 Enterprise Edition, and additional hardware form your Hardware vendor together with clustering services software. Visit your HW vendors's web site [compaq/hp/dell etc] and search for clustering and high availability,

Instead of clustering which still gives a single point of failure, why not trying Computer Associates SurviveIT. This will work with your Exchange servers and you will never know that the server went down.
Strange question, but can you still link exchange 2000 server and windows 2000 server over a wan structure without having to go for enterprise versions?  I thought it was possible, until reading above :)
