Running an Oracle Developer App (Forms & Reports) on Citrix and Solaris
Hi
I have been asked to setup my application to be used from a thin client and a thick client.
We are going to use a Solaris Server to run the database.
Another Solaris Server to run 9iAS which will have the Forms Server and Reports Server.
We will also have the forms and reports deployed on a Windows NT box running Citrix for the thick client.
But the complication being added is to have a shared drive mounted on the Solaris box to be shared with Citrix.
The Client wants to have all source and executables installed on this shared drive. ONLY ONE COPY.
What they want is that if a user connects from Citrix they should be able to run the fmx and rep as if on a Windows Thick client. For a user connecting through a web browser to the Solaris Box, the Forms and Reports server should be able to use the same fmx and rep to feed the thin client.
How can I setup this? Are there alternate ways to do this?
Thanks

ASKER
Hi
Thanks for you reply.
My problem is a little more complex. I have been asked to run the same fmx's and rep's for both thin client and thick client. Only that the thin client is on Unix (Solaris) and the thick client is on Citrix/Win2K. Meaning both setups should point to one and only one set of executables.
Is that possible? or are the executables (fmx, rep) OS specific?
Thanks

A. THIN CLIENT: Forms and Reports use variables (in W/NT4 in registry, FORMS60_PATH, REPORTS60_PATH) to indicate the location of .fmx, .rdf, .rep files).
B. THICK CLIENT: One have to point in every runtime system the source of the .fmx, .rdf, .rep files the same directories.
I hope the idea is clear, the technical details are task of the network administrators.
