hi,
I have java Applet having a single TextField to which i am setting the focus, now the problem is to maintain the focus on the TextField i have to keep the mouse pointer within the applet area and as soon as i move the  mouse pointer outside the applet the TextField is losing focus and when i again bring the mouse pointer inside the Applet area, the TextField gains focus. I think this has got something to do with linux.
I am eagerly waiting for some comments. I am using Redhat 7.1, this problem is also there with previous versions on linux.
thanks,
najeeb.

This has to do with the Window Manager that you are using. Sounds like you're using KDE or the like. Some window managers will let you change that option, and some won't (it is the classic unix X standard).  Let us know what flavor you are running for your desktop so we can point you in the right direction.

This problem is there on both KDE and GNOME. If it has got something to do with Window Manager's setting, then pls let me know as to how I can change the setting of the window manager. I would suggest that you first reproduce this problem and see whether the window manager setting are helping in solving this problem.
If you're using the sawfish window manager on Gnome, go into the window manager properties and set the window focus behaviour option to click only.  You should find the same type of option in the controls for whatever window manager you are using.
