HI,

I need to reconfigure x86 SOl 2.6 on COMPAQ DL380 hardware to use a 3Com PCI NIC instead of the onboard NIC.  The reconfig processs, what's a good way.  I am expecting to;

shut down,
insert NIC,
startup,
disable onboard NIC in BIOS,
enter device configuration assistant and add new NIC
boot up,
as root, #ifconfig iprb0 plumb (?)
then configure the adapter as required.

How does this process look? Flawed?  OK?  Suggest something better?
