I mistakenly formated a Maxtor 15MG hard disk with wrong
cylinder number 27xxx (it should be 16838). Now I failed to reformat it again. Is there any way to cleanup all format and start over again?

Thanks,

Get the low-level utility from www.maxtor.com and start fresh with the drive.

Let me get this right?

Is that a 15 Megabite or a 15 Gigabite hard drive.

If it's 15 MEGABITE hard drive, why are you even bothering????????????

If it's a 15 Gigabite hard drive I would almost ask you the same question as above. But if it's a 15GB harddrive you will not really be able to trust it's reliability anymore. The tables are placed on the drive at the time of manufacture and the only way to replace the table is to send the drive in. The drive is most likly out of warranty and the cost will oughtweigh the worth of the drive even if Maxtor would fix it.

I prefer using the HD defaults, and not trying to add-in or use user-selectable options. Just reset to no drives. Then add the one in. Properly.

If it's a 15 GIGABITE (or any BITE for that matter), I had rather stay away from it.  If you are talking BYTES, though, we are in the right arena.  Ya know, storage space is measured in BYTES.  That is sort of like measuring brain waves in liters.
