hi,
I want to print web pages without the header and footer strings.
I know that I can fix this using the page setup, but I need another way to do this, some code that let me disable this string directly.
I will use this funtion with forms... thats why I dont need that.
Thanks in advance

You cannot disable it except on your own machine.  It is controlled by the printer setting on each individual computer.

Do you just want to do it on your machine?

No,
I will put the forms over an Intranet, so the people could open them and print wherever they are.
If it is over the intRAnet you could get the network administrator to change all the printer settings across the LAN so that the strings do not print out, but that would be for all sites, not just the Intranet....everything, everywhere.  It is a machine setting and has nothing to do with your web pages I'm afraid.

On our intranet, I store forms for printing as Adobe Acrobat files. This does require an investment in the Acrobat software, but its versatility is fantastic.

We've also found it useful for sending docs to clients and vendors... they look perfect, print perfect, and they cannot be altered at the other end.

For our intranet users, we place a link to a .pdf file in a web page. This is particularly useful for sales materials and things that may use fonts they don't have (we just embed them in the file). For forms, we convert Word docs, Excel files, and scanned paper forms to .pdf's.

I know this isn't the solution you were looking for, but it will achieve your purpose and provide perfect forms for your users.

Ok, I will do it with PDF forms.
Do I need to Install Adobe Acrobat Reader in all the machines, or exist a way that let the browser detects if Adobe exist in the PC.
Thanks again

You will need Acrobat Reader on each workstation, but you can download it once to the server and then e-mail your users with a link to the file. As I recall, there are no options, so it's pretty straightforward.

Do you know if exist some code that could detect if the User has Adobe installed ?, and If not , redirect to some download page ?.
Yes....the code for PDF detect is:

<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="Javascript">
<!--
// detection for Netscape
var useAcrobat = navigator.mimeTypes &&
navigator.mimeTypes["application/pdf"]
//-->
</SCRIPT>
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="VBScript">
<!--
   on error resume next
   useAcrobat = not IsNull(CreateObject("AcroExch.Document"))
   '                can be CreateObject("PDF.PdfCtrl.1") too!
//-->
</SCRIPT>
<SCRIPT>
<!--
   if (useAcrobat)
      document.writeln("<%response.redirect filename%>");
   else
      document.writeln("<A href="http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html"><IMG height=31 src="http://www.adobe.com/images/getacro.gif" width=88 border=0></A>Please download the FREE Acrobat Reader to view the Creemore Echo");
//-->
</SCRIPT>

Note:
I use ASP...so I use this line to redirect to my file....you can use a meta refresh or javascript redirect in here instead if you like.

  document.writeln("<%response.redirect filename%>");
jimenez...what's up with this?  Can you close the question now??
