FrontPage 98 /PowerPoint 97 - How can I place a PowerPoint slide show on a web page?

jmasters asked
I have PowerPoint 97 and FrontPage 98.  I would like step by step instruction on how to place a slide presentation on a web page.  I also use a FTP program to transfer the pages out to the web, rather than publish them through FrontPage and didn't know if that would make a difference or not.

Thank you.

Using FTP rather than publish will make not difference.

If the Save as HTML option is available to you (in the File menu of PowerPoint, you can use that and it will create all the html for you.  It's not pretty, but it is functional.

To insert a PowerPoint animation (.ppz) file into your Web page, follow these steps:

Save your PowerPoint presentation as a PowerPoint animation file. To do this, follow these steps:

Open your presentation in Microsoft PowerPoint.

On the File menu, click Save As HTML.

Click Next three times.

Click PowerPoint Animation, and click Next.

Click Next six times.

In the Folder box, type "C:\My Documents" (without the quotation marks), and then click Finish.

NOTE: The PowerPoint Animation will be saved with the file name Pres0.ppz in a folder with the same name as the PowerPoint animation you have open.

Import the PowerPoint animation into your FrontPage Web. To do this, follow these steps:

Open your Web in FrontPage.

On the File menu, click Import.

Click Add File.

Select the Pres0.ppz file you created in step 1 and click Open.

NOTE: The default location is C:\My Documents.

Click OK.

Open the page you want to insert the presentation into.

On the Insert menu, point to Advanced, and then click ActiveX Control.

In the Pick A Control list, click Microsoft PowerPoint Animation.

Set the Width to 320 and the Height to 240.

Click Browse.

Click pres0.ppz and click OK. Click OK again.

Click Save on the File menu.

NOTE: The first time you open the page containing the PowerPoint animation, you may be prompted to download and install the Microsoft PowerPoint animation ActiveX control. You should download and install this file to run the PowerPoint animation. For additional information and to download the PowerPoint animation ActiveX control, please see the following Microsoft World Wide Web site:

I have been trying to process the slide show and having a few problems.  I will get back to you some time in the next several days.  Thanks for the info.
