Hi

I'm new to linux and am in a hurry !!!

I installed red had 7.1 without the kernel development, but now I need the package in order to compile the modem support.

What is the quickest way to do this (manual reference OK if explanation is verbose)?

Thanks

You need 'kernel-source-<version #>.rpm' from your install CD. It will be under the 'RedHat/RPMS' directory on the CD. (I believe the version # is 2.4.2-2 on RH7.1) With the CD mounted (I'm assuming on /mnt/cdrom) enter the following commands.

> cd /mnt/cdrom/RedHat/RPMS
> rpm -ivh kernel-source-<version #>.rpm

You will then find the kernel source under /usr/src/linux2.4
