If the windows is working OK, then someone set up an automatic login.

install the latest version v1.33 of TweakUi from Microsoft
                    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsme/guide/tweakui.exe
See tweakui in the control panel , and check the login TAB- disable automatic login.

I hope this helps !

I understand this.  I put a program called new Gina.  what it does it by passes the alt+cltrl+ del.  all it should show after that is the logon prompt.  my problem is that I can't logon period.  nothing shows, no alt+ctrl+del windows nor the logon prompt window.  Is there a nother way to logon and see if I can disable this "newGina" program?

I would try doing a NT repair using your ERD floppy.
Otherwise, do an install into a new directory to allow access to your files.

Have you tried safe mode/VGA ?

I hope this helps !

If your computer is on a network you can use another NT computer to fix it.  Login as a domain admin and run regedt32.  Select "Connect to another computer" from the menu.  Type \\computername.  Go into HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon and remove the "AutoAdminLogon" and "Default Password" values.

If it's not booting far enough for it to share the registry then you'll have to do a parallel install to a new directory like SysExpert suggested.  Personally I've never had any luck with the ERD disk.  It sucks!
