I have an Exchange 5.5 SP4 server servicing 40 Outlook 2000 clients. 1 client keeps getting the following error when sending email:

No transport provider was available for delivery to this recipient

This error happens randomly during 8 ? 5 hours to random users in his contact list. I have deleted his network account and mailbox. Re-created the network account and mailbox. And is still getting the error. I checked through his contact list and sent items to see the recipient address and it?s a standard SMTP address. yourname@yourdomain.com I can send email to the same contact from a different mailbox and it works fine. Please help.

Have them remove the internet e-mail service from their profile and only use the Exchange server service. Make sure an IMS is configured on the Exchange server as well.

I have seen this when the user creates a personal address book entry and chooses something other than SMTP address. They like to choose ccmail, then enter a normal yourname@yourdomain.com style address.

Check the order of the services.  In Outlook, Tools-Services-Delivery tab.  Put Exchange Server on top.  I have had this problem and that fixed it for me.
