Wnat you want?. Do you want to control the version of Source control?????. If yes, you can use, Visual SourceSafe from Microsoft visual studio or Clear case from Rational Rose.

I want the DLL version maintenance... which we can see by right clicking on dll name i windows explorer and switching to 'Version' tab.

You add the following resource to your dll. If you compile it and see in the Explorer you can see this as you wanted.
Change the Item to suit your requirement.

The best way is, Go to resource tab, Look for Version Info. If not available add a new version info resource to your project.

That I know, but my question was how to automate the version increments. Like next version number allocation after each build or any periodical build.
