This sounds like a job for an RMON2 probe but they are very expensive. Protocol based staistics are part of the RMON2 extension to the original RMON1 MIB.<br />

An alternative (of sorts) is analyzer from netgroup-serv.polito.it/an<wbr />alyzer/ - this is still under development and only runs on Windows and is more like a Lan analyzer but it may suit your needs.
