Well, having built 2 PCs from scratch, and configured 7 all with Windows 2000, I would say just run the Install from the CDROM. W2000 seems to come with drivers for most of teh commonly available stuff. In the worst possible case for Video you will be able to run with a standrd PCI, or AGP driver which wont be able to get all the bells and whistle but it will work. The sound card might be more of an issue, but again as long as its a main stream one, getting drivers from the Manufactrurers website should not be a probelm. My only word of caution would be dont use very old stuff, you are less likly to be able to find updates for W2K.

CD-RW software will be proprietry so you will have to go back to your install disks (check and see if you have bought it within the last 3 years its quite likly that a W2K driver will be included)

BTW: My suggested basic spec for W2K is a 233mhz 128MB RAM, and 3GB hard disk. My base systems are Windows 2000/ SP2, Office 2000/SP2 ples a couple of small utilities. This occupies around 1.7GB so its quite chunky.

Hope this helps.

-I have to agree. If you check on www.microsoft.com/HCL microsoft tries to keep listing of all compatable hardware.
-It would probably be wise to note all your hardware..like video card, sound card & go to the manufacturers sites & see if they either have a windows 2000 driver available for download or information about drivers for 2000.. The install process for hardware is fairly automatic. You may be prompted to provide 3rd party drivers for a device, so having checked the site beforehand & possible downloading the drivers would make providing the drivers a possibility.
