Everything!!!

I am new to Win2000 Server and cannot get it to configure correctly...I have a stand-alone server (currently but want to build a Win2x network) I get about 25 messages each time in the Event Log, 'Preparing Network Connections' takes about 5 minutes and the all apps are slowwwwed way down. I am using Active Directory and Domain Controller, but this started before I did that...any ideas?
