How to set default values for Explorer window file view

My problem is that my Windows Explorer defaults to showing files as large icons, while I want to set these values to something else (detailed view). Also, every time I change one folder level, all sublevels return to default value (large icons) even though I changed them to detailed before. Is there a way to fix this?

While in Windows Explorer, open a folder and set it up to how you want them all to look.  Then go to Tools -> Folder Options -> View tab.  Click "Like Current Folder" under Folder Views
