Failed to open Registry handle in ATIPoll

Recently I encountered the following problem:
I have installed three systems in my harddisk. In partition (hd0,0) I installed win98. In (hd0,1) I installed win2000. In (hd0,2) I installed linux. The graphic card I am using is ATI Xpert 2000. I installed ATI provided drivers in both win98 and win2000. The driver works perfectly in win98. However, every time when I boot into win2000, I get following warning:
Failed to open Registry handle in ATIPoll.
Anyone knows what is the problem?

Ok first open Contraol Panel > Event Viewer > System log and see if an Error or a Warning has been listed in the log for this if so double click on it an see if it gives any more detail about the error and see if there is an "Event ID:" associated with it. If there is an ID for example 1000 this sometimes can be looked up in the MS KB for further details on what is happeining and what to do about it.

There is no error message logged in Control Panel>Event Viewer > system log. There are some items listed under  >informations, but none of them seems to related to the problem I described above.
Comments please.
Hmm here are a couple of links I found addressing this problem. It may or may not be of help to you but it might be worth checking out.

Also go to this link and do a search on Xpert 2000. I think you may need to update the driver.

http://www.ati.com/na/pages/faq/windows2000faq.html
It seems the driver only supports Directx 8 or above so make sure you have at least Directx 8 installed.
I confirm the problem with XP.
So this is not related to directx 8 compatiblity.
My ATI driver is 5.0.0.139 from 16/08/2000 - without numeric signature -
The problem is corrected with a new version of driver.
version 6.13.3279.0 du 26/09/2001 - with numeric signature.
Get it from www.ati.com - expert 2000 card - Xp OS

This problem is actually caused by the ATI hotkey poller service. If you go into services and disable the ATI hotkey poller it will get rid of the warning.

Also you should go to add/remove programs and try to find anything to do with ATI.
