MTS Server components Deployment

Hi experts,
I am in a fix.  I have developed a vb multi-tier app which has vb application + MTS + SQL Server.  My deployment at clients is fine, ie via setup that i hvae prepared.  Similarly i run scripts for sql server and therefore that is automted too.

But in case of MTS deployment i have to manually do it evertime i change my application.

ie, I have to manually prepare the package and then prepare the proxy on my client's MTS server.  I was wondering if there is a complete automated method of preparing the MTS proxy, given the server name and other required informatoin.

I would appriciate if some sample code is attached along with the answers.

thnaks in adv.

Greetings,

I'm 99% sure on this, but not positive.  I know exactly what you are talking about.  The chore of going in, uninstalling the old components, and reinstalling the new ones.  It does get old after a while, however, there is no way around it to my knowledge.

There are a couple of reasons, probably why. 1) Having it automated, one may accidentally have buggy or faulty objects installed.  2) This would be another possible portal for virus's and hackers to find their way in to cause much pain and mischief.

The light on the end of the tunnel.  As you improve your COM/DCOM objects at least the frequency of this chore will deminish.

Hope that helps,

Thank you for the response but is the answer Yes or No, I am not clear.  And if the answer is yes then my question still stands "how"

Thanks again.
Oyeve, all that typing i did and i forgot to say no i dont believe its possible.  The reasons are in the previous comment post.  Sorry bout that... my brain has officially left the building.  The way things are standing there is no automated way of posting components into MTS.  The closest it comes i believe is being able to manually do it from a remote computer on the network...

but again, thats manualy performing the task.

If I understand your question correctly.
>> I have to manually prepare the package and then prepare the proxy on my client's MTS server

Why you need to put your component into client's MTS server. Should you just put your component into server's MTS server instead?

In the other words, I don't believe you need to put component in your client MTS server, you put in your server only and call from your client by using

createobject("Progid", computername)

wow, that was... way way out there Eddykt. Right church wrong pew...

Wait if you dont have to rush your project.  However im almost dead certain, that it will have to be manual.  What are you doing that requires the change of MTS objects on such a frequent basis, that the manual is becoming a hastle?  When first creating them, yes its a problem, debuging etc.  But once you have the bugs worked out, you shouldnt have to toucht them again.  Unless your specs change.  Ive seen that way too often.

Well gentelmen (experts)
Thank you for your input and i think i will go with the original comment that i got.

but just for clarification when i said "client's MTS" i ment business client not as client machine - sorry for the misunderstaning.
