File names with spaces

We have just install Citrix XP and installed a customized program compiled in VB6.  The files have links to Excel spreadsheets.  When you click on them, the file opens like this:

Example:
Location of file:   C:\MY FILES\EXCEL DOCS\my excel.xls

This file will open like this:

C:\MY.xls could not be found.  Check the spelling of the file name, and verify that the file location is correct.

If you are trying to open the file from your list of most recently used files on the File menu, make sure that the file has not been renamed, moved, or deleted.

Files\Excel.xls (with same error)
DOCS\my.xls (with same error)
excel.xls (with same error)

The file does open.  But you have to click OK to each error first.  If you start excel first and then open, the error does not occur.

Thanks.

Hi Madhour,

I asked a very similar question in EE.com about
opening "spacey" file names using Word.  Calacuccia
provided this answer -- which happens to mention
Excel. Look at:
