Printing a form - only prints one page

Hello Notes experts

We have an aging Notes system (rel 4.5) but it usually works OK.

Have a lot of documents (on various different types of forms) that run to many pages and they always print OK.

There is one type of form, though, that up to now has never had more than a few lines of data. But a user recently put lots of text into it and it should take about 3 pages to print it all. But it stops printing after just one page.

Anyone have any ideas please?

Thanks

Iain MacRae (Adelaide, South Australia)

Hello Iain,

your description about the text entered into the form sounds to me like this:
1.) User enters the text into ONE field.
2.) This one field is embedded into a layout reagon.

Can you confirm this?

zvonko

By the way: my mother is living also in Adelaide, Rosewather :-)

Hello Zvonko

Thanks for your quick reply.

Yes!!! The text is in one field. That's probably the problem. I guess I could force them to use several different fields if necessary. Or do you have another idea?

I don't know what a layout reagon (region?) is I'm afraid.

I'll say hello to your Mum when I see her.

Thanks again

Iain MacRae

PS I have to leave now so if you reply again I won't be able to answer straight away.

Sorry Iain, but this problem can have two reasons: either simply the printer output driver has general problems, or it is design problem with this LayoutRegions.

Is it possible to you to make a new copy of this database without documents and then transfer one of this problem documents into the new copy, and send me this db (zipped) to: zp@arcor.de

I have a less hope to find realy something in the design but it would speed up the investigation.
It is also no problem for me to share your db with other experts in this topic area (if it is not a problem to you :-) you can overwrite confidential parts.

Hello Zvonko

It will be a few days before I go back to the site where this database is, so I won't be able to send it to you until then.

Thanks for your interest and help.

Hello Zvonko

Based on your question about whether all the text was in one single field, I have split it into 2 fields and it now prints fine.

So I won't need to trouble you by sending you a sample db containing the problem.

Thanks for your help. Best Regards

Iain MacRae
