Problem Installing PrintSir PS1100A Print Server

I am trying to install an EDIMAX PrintSir Model PS1100A Print Server. I have HP 855C printer, NetGear MR314 DSL/Cable router, Dell Dimension and Compaq Armada laptop both running Windows 2000 Pro. Printer cable connects to PrintSir which plugs into LAN. I was installing the administrative utilities on the Dimension system.
It almost worked. I managed to print a test page. Then I tried reconfiguring some things resulting in loss of visibility to print server. I have tried everything that I can think of including uninstalling, editing registry to remove associated entries, and so forth. The lights on the hub indicate that the hub sees the device and communicates with it.
When I reinstall, it does not see the PrintSir device. If it does not see it, I can not get into PrintSir utilities. (A catch 22). As nearly as I can tell, I should be able to ping the device (says that ping is supported), but I get no response to the pings.
Can anyone tell me what I have to do? Thanks.
