sequence of methods in servlets

As I know the entry point of servelts is init() when requested first or service() when later.
so the service() method run first among other methods other than init().
but why doPost(,) can be called when service() is not there?
I think service() should be there calling doPost(,) or doGet(,) methods.
Thanks.

service() does call the doGet and doPost methods, but this happens in the base class.
