What sort of file? Do you mean a picture file, Word document, application, report? The BLOB type is designed for holding binary data, this is the usual place for storing files, usually image or report files.

Any database you use should support the BLOB type (Binary Large OBject), and Delphi supports extracting it using the TBlobField type.
