OS X: command not found: tee

I'm trying to install MySQL on my powerbook, running OS X.
As I start the DB server, it returns the message:

./bin/safe_mysqld: command not found: tee [275]
./bin/safe_mysqld: command not found: tee [276]


Please, all help appriciated.

Dunno if it'll help but you might like to try installing Bash?  Can download it via the Apple site.
