VB6 program read event log accurately and completely?

I ask a question about writing program to read Window 2000 server
event log in Visual Baisc 6 without upgrading to Visual Basic .NET.

I found it difficult to interprete the event log about the event log ID and related content. May be have some mapping or other indexing for storing the event log content.

As I know .NET having sufficient event log component to do this, How can I read Window 2000 event log accurately in Visual Basic 6?

Looking forward to hearing Experts's comment.

thanks to timcottee's comment, your comment help us to read NT log. We encounter problem in reading Window 2000 server log, expecially we can read the event log id, time and others, but can not successfully read the error content in details by programming.
