i want to know more about Sendmail, but on sendmail.org,i could not find a suitable guideline for me as detail.my question is:

1) could you explain what files would be called as sendmail start working,(for example:sendmail would first check sendmail.cw or sendmail.cf when a mail incoming) sth
like this

2) while i know sendmail.cf is the most important, as i know,it would run "check_relay, check_mail,check_rcpt" in sequence, but i don't know the details, could you tell me more or where could i find a good guide to study ? i am very interesting in editing the "sendmail.cf" file, but quite puzzled with "R<$+>,$|, $+,$*..." sth like that.

3) if introduce sendmail.mc & its responding configuration
,extra 30~50 points would be awarded.

waiting for answers from experts,thanks.

Of course the source code would be definitative and is available.

The best reference would be the Sendmail book

You are asking to know everything about sendmail.cf, but refusing to read the source code or the book.

Maybe you should give a specific example of what you want to do as your question....

Maybe you should consider a Windows solution.....you are going to have to RTFM for sendmail hacks....Of course if you can't afford the BAT book on sendmail, you can't afford Windows....

Maybe your library has the book.....really, it is the DEFINITATIVE authority on sendmail.  There is nothing equivlant on the internet (except the source code)....of course I could be wrong....I've only been looking since 1993.

Maybe you should focus on the sendmail.mc.  After all it is more readable than the .cf file....
