hi, my norton antivirus def. are updated but I have to reformat my C partition and it is so hard to loose all definions and then start to download it from net as I have the 2001 version that started with about 37000 def.. , I'm using the the live update option every week to update defs. is there a way to keep these defs away and then insert it again in NAV folder..

Most virus software updates are not cumulative ie you do not need all the updates - the latest one will provide all definitions. In the folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\VirusDefs only the folder named with the latest date eg 20020401.001

Refer to the following file on symantics website for more into. Note this page related to 2000 version and did not have any references to 2001.

Hope this helps
