Could someone please suggest where I can download a copy of -
  MMSYSTEM.H

True, but to be more specific you can only obtain the full microsoft SDK as a download and this is a lot for just one file. You could try asking in the C++ forum http://www.experts-exchange.com/jsp/qList.jsp?ta=cplusprog or someone may be willing to send it to you by email, (it is a little big to post here really ).
