Compression

i record 3Minuits  voice using some API's.and save it in a .WAV file.but that file size if 40M.B .now how to compree that file.pls help me

Since you are using just voice, you can really downgrade the quality. If your numbers are accurate, you're currently using about 222K/sec, which is really quite big.

1) Make your sound mono. That should save 50% of your space.
2) Downgrade your sound to make 11khz, instead of CD quality (44khz). (Should save 75% more space).
At this point, you have a filesize of 5MB.
3) Once you have it to this point, you could use a zip compression. There are freeware libraries that will do this.


Alternatively, you could just convert your sound to an mp3 format. That'll greatly reduce your sound file size with little or no sacrifice in quality - just need more CPU power. You could get a CD quality stereo sound down to about a meg a minute. (3MB file for your 3 minutes).
