Does the color cartridge for a bjc5500 printer require its own printer head, or carraige, for it to work, because the physical shape of it is alot different from the black cartridge, and also it does not have any cicuitry for it to communicate with the printer.

Here are the specs on that printer - http://www.bubblejet.canon.com.my/product/specs/bjc5500.htm but I don't believe that provides the info you want.  Is it possible that you got a defective cartridge?

well, we had this printer for a while, but never used it, and now we need it to print some corporate posters and banners, so we got it out from under all the rest of the junk, and it still works fine, and the black cartridge prints great, so we bought a new color one, but like I said, I think it might require a seperate print head, but I will just take it in to the computer shop and have them sort it out for me.
