asked on

using .class file

I am attempting to do some database pooling.  I have a .class file to use in my source code but how do I compile my code since I don't have the .java source.  When I attempt to use the classes in that file, it says I can't.  I attempted to change my classpath, and also put the .class file in the same directory as my source code, but I still get errors.  Any ideas?

What is the error?
Are they packed into jar file?
Which errors do you get? Did you put class file according to package inside?

Sounds like the classes may be in a package, in which case they'll need to be in directory that corresponds to their package name.

eg. If you classpath includes the directory /classes and a class is in the package a.b then class file will need to be put in /classes/a/b.
And you'll need to import a.b.*; to use it in your code.

DbConnectionBroker myBroker;

The error I get is DbConnectionBroker class not found.
Then the class is not accessible from your classpath:
- is the class in a package?
- what is your classpath ?
- where is the class located ?
Put the DbConnectionBroker.class in the same directory where  your java program is and add the complete path of DbConnectionBroker.class into  your classpath including filename.And before compile in DOS say:
classpath=%classpath%;.
Hope this works.
good luck.
