When I try to play an .avi, Windows Media Player loads and then I get the error "Unable to download an appropriate decompressor."  I have Internet Explorer 6 and Windows 2k Pro SP2.  The help on the Microsoft site doesn't seem to help.

Is it a DIVX .avi file?  If so you will need to download the DIVX player & codec from http://www.divx.com/divx/ - its free.

Hope this Helps.
