From Name field

I am very new to Lotus Notes (R5).  When I send an internet e-mail to someone, the from field displays my e-mail address twice rather than my name and then my e-mail address.  Is there a way to change this?

Did you check your current location?

Click on office on the lower right corner and select edit current. In your Internet address field, there should be something like "My name"<address@mydomain.com>

Hope this helps

Yannick,

I tried your suggestion, however, it did not work.  It will only let me insert my e-mail address, not a personal name.

Any other suggestions?

Sorry that it didn't work. On my pc it's fine. Did you really put your name between '"' ?

If it still doesn't work, you may try this : I have noticed that sometimes the location docs are not "used" correctly by the client. I would try to create a new location (File->mobile->location, copy and paste the location that looks fine, edit the pasted one and change the location name). Then restart the client and change to the new location.

Hope this helps,
Yannick

lookup your name in the public addressbook. Check the basic tab. perhaps your shortname or your email address is filled in wrongly. or your email address is not filled in at all. don't change your mail address in the personal addressbook . this address is used as reply address. Better leave it empty thatway the email address in the public addressbook will be used and shown as your email address at the recipient side.

I'm pretty sure if you try this last part it will work for you.

Goodluck

I'm affraid the address in the names and address book is only used if the location doc is not populated.

The field in the personal address book is indeed favorite for notes. that's why I suggested not to use it. just use the address in the public addressbook.

Yannick,

Your initial solution did work.  I just didn't put my name in quotes.

Thanks!

Also, thanks to everyone else who responded.

It is appreciated.
