Windows2K Server - Limiting # of Users on Website?

How do I limit the amount of users on a website. I saw in the Internet Information Systems MMC that there is "connections". but is that connections per site such as only 2 people can get in at a time or is that connections per person at once such as 2 simultaneous downloads.

I have a links page with large movies and only want a certain number to have access to it at a time. such as if there were 2 people downloading already, a 3rd could not start.

thanks for your help

If you're only restricting the "downloads" area of your server, but want to have full access to other areas of the server, you've got two options.  Either have code that 'locks out' users from downloading the files with ASP code (or similar), or have a seperate web server with the connections limited to 2 (yes the connections property that you found is per connection - and it doesn't matter if the connections are all coming from one site or many - they're all counted).

If you're not worried about limiting access to non-media areas of the site, simply setting the connection limit should achieve what you want to do.

nb: have you thought about throttling bandwidth, or is that not an option?
