IE 5.1/Mac OS X - text box html problem

I figure folks that know OS X might have experienced this issue.

I have an html-based login form.  When a user returns to my site to login, I populate the username text box with the value form a cookie.

The problem I'm experiencing is that the value in the username box is scrunched way to the left, and even though the value will fit in the text-box (it's wide enough) - half of it is hidden.  Any ideas?

IE for OS X has more bugs than an abandoned warehouse. Check to make sure you have all the appropriate updates for IE from www.versiontracker.com. Also check to see if the problem replicates in any other browser like Netscape 6, iCab, Opera, OmniWeb etc.

Nope - only happens in IE 5.1/OS X - problem appears/disappears on refresh.

Thanks,
