how can i convert my film (*.dat) to *.avi ?
waht format should I use in my website ?

For putting the movie on the web you should use QuickTime or MPEG. QuickTime with the Sorenson 3 codec will generally get you better quality and smaller files than MPEG. If youre so lucky to have Sorenson 3 Pro you can use 2 pass VBR for even smaller files.
