Logging users

I have a basic IP logger in my server that only logs the IPs. i was wondering if anybody knows how to edit the htdocs folder or any other folder so that i can get more info about the user or IP. i know you can find all you need to know in DOS and in a program called "whois", but i want it displayed and my "ip.txt" link. any advise would be greatly appreated.

Beretta,

Perhaps you might want to take a look at Apache module: mod_log_config

http://httpd.apache.org/docs/mod/index-bytype.html
Logging section.

http://httpd.apache.org/docs/mod/mod_log_config.html

Depending on your requirement, your can used the "literal character", to your predefined log format.

In addition, the following keyword can be used in combination with Apache's Environment Variable.  For example, if you require Authentication on your web pages, this would be ${REMOTE_USER}e Environment variable.

%...{FOOBAR}e:  The contents of the environment variable FOOBAR

good luck.
