Hello.

Would Notes version 4.6.7 client play nice on a Windows XP machine ?

Looks it should work but except for issues like local securities and the data directory missing stuff images not loading etc ...

Most of the people comment the above.  So... if you can play then its worth to give a shot.  Dont expect any support from any guys as the above link says.

A considerable delay time for the first time opening of notes is also one of the reported issues.

An extreme delay time may be what I was experiencing. I may have been canceling it before it finished.  Either way I did go back to 98.
