Question for TimCottee

Tim,

You seem to have an excellent Knowledge of APIs

I have been getting into using them alot more myself.

Is there any particular books you could recommend for good examples and details about APIs

Cheers.

Ed.

Elmo, there is a "seminal" work in this respect: Dan Appleman's VB Programmers guide to the win32 API http://www.vb-world.net/books/danapi/ (is a review of it). Also http://www.allapi.net is a good resource with many good examples of the use of API calls etc. Generally though I tend to combine a whole host of sources as well as wading my way through the C++ examples in MSDN and converting these to VB. http://www.mvps.org/vbnet is also a good resource for many API solutions with excellent samples.

Thanks For that.

I take it that gaining a good knowledge of API's also just comes from the need of using them in your apps.

Once again Cheers.

Indeed it does, as with everything it is always much easier to learn when you have an appropriate need. The problem is that sometimes you don't realise that there is an easier way.
