Convert Video Tape to avi or mpg2
What is the best solution for converting video tapes (from a video recorder) from analog to digital on my computer (mpg2 or avi) and then digital to analog to record on tape. I have s-video output and input on my vcr.
I have seen mpg files that have very high quality and would like to make my own. I have a p4 1500 computer with 512 meg of ram. I have firewire and use that to create files from my digital video camera. I get pretty good results playing the analog video into my dv camera and then into my computer, but that is a hassle.
I am running Windows XP and that might be a limiting factor.
Thanks in advance for any help.

It may be a hassle, but it works and for you it works well. Stick with what works.
