I would like to utilize adobe livemotion 2 to mimic this a text effect that you can see on the following web site: http://www.joshgroban.com/

when you place the mouse over the text links it kind of shines out laterally like you can see for yourself.
im new to animation..how to make this effect with livemotion..OR even better can you tell me some links which SPECIFICALLY show me how to make this and other text effects.

thanks

It's just a flash animation with a rollover animation.

You could start with http://www.adobe.com/products/livemotion/main.html and www.lynda.com not to mention your manual which describes the process in detail.

Lynda.com was only one suggestion of several. They dont offer classes anymore but they do have books, CDs and and online movie library with information. Sounds like you didnt check the adobe site or your manual.
