applet/servlet in C# ?

Hi all! I wonder if there is anything similar to applets / servlets in C#? I am a Java programmer and would like to know how it is done in C#. Thanks!

You create an ActiveX element. This only runs in internet Explorer but what else to expect from Microsoft :-)

You know have control over webservivces. A webservice is a piece of software that runs on the server. This software is written the same way as you'd write a normal application. you just choose for anoher project.

After you have created the webservice (which runs on IIS) you can access it from the client application. First you have to get a reference to a webservice, you do this by adding a Web reference. You give it a name and you're ready to call your webservice. (It works the same as when you have an object).

Webservices use SOAP as the transmission method and XML as the data format.

Webservices are not only available to C#, they are available for all .Net languages.

Search for "C# WebServices" for more information.

Ok, so webservices can do the job of servlets, but what about applets, which runs inside a web browser? What can be used there?
