FTP Anonymous Login from a DOS Prompt

I can get into an FTP site Anonymously from a web browser, however, when I try to get into the same site using FTP Commands, it prompts me for a login. If I just hit enter and key in nothing for the user and password, it denies me access. What do I need to do for it to accept an anonymous login from a DOS prompt? Or do I need to give the anonymous user some kind of guest account?

Okay..I think I solved my own problem except that once I log in and get connected. From the FTP prompt, I type in any command (even just typing dir or ls) and it says something about an ASCII port being opened and it just seems to hang there.

Any ideas?

Does the anonymous user have enough previlages to access the ftp folder on the NTFS level ?

Check if you gave IUSR read access to the ftp folder and also in FTP console

look like the ftp server or a firewall on your way to FTP serevr required you to use PASSIVE mode to work. To turn to passive mode use this command in ftp shell

quote PASV

this command should be call everytime you want to make any transfer!
