Blocking e-mail ID's in IMC

Hi,

We are on exchnage 5.5 and would greatly appreciate a solution to the following issue  :-

Is there a way to set IMC ( Internet mail connector) to reject messgaes to seklective e-mail ID's ?

Problem description  :

We have ex-employees who are on lot of subscription lists. I receive around 500 or so messgaes in a day. Though the corresponding e-mail ID is no more on the address list, the exchange server receives the mail and redirects it to admin mailbox. ( Should be eating into my bandwidth as well )

How can i set IMC to reject mails to these ID's ?

Thanx in advance

From exchange administrator:
Configuration > Connections > Internet Mail Service > Connections Tab > Message Filtering Button.

Click add and add e-mail address' or domains:
to specify a domain,just add the "@domain.com"

You must restart the IMS after adding address'

You can also specify a directory in the registry where all messages specified under message filtering are moved to.If not,you should check the box to delete items instead of moving them to the turf Directory.

Simplify Active Directory Administration

Administration of Active Directory does not have to be hard.  Too often what should be a simple task is made more difficult than it needs to be.The solution?  Hyena from SystemTools Software.  With ease-of-use as well as powerful importing and bulk updating capabilities.

Microsoft Tech net described a way to do it by create a new mail box that has delivery restriction that reject the mail. But your admin account is still received the undelivery notice without the contents. Since we use exch2k now, I can not get information.

The other way is to install the mail filter, http://www.surfcontrol.com, that offer a name lookup for exchange 5 or 5.5, but not in Exchange 2000.

Hope this will help.

Dear vinnyd79,

Thank you very much for the response. Messgae filtering list i guess  is applicable for the source domains/ e-mail ID's not the target e-mail'ID in my domain.

This solution i guess would require to open all undelivery notices to admin and add the corresponding domains/ email ID's to the filter list. and if any of the exsisting users have subscibed to the same domains their messages also would get blocked ...

Thanks and Regards,
Ferose
